With an easy job, hopefully that means you have some free time that can be devoted to other uses like learning. So initially developing a new skill over time should be a Type 2 decision as Bezos calls it. i.e. it's reversible; at first you just need to develop the skill over time, there is no need to quit your job just yet. I think initially you can set some goals and milestones over a short period of time (1/3/6 months) to figure out if you really want to go down this path.
Of course as adults we do feel the limit of time, trying to balance between work, hobby, family, and learning. So maybe at some point you might decide to actually quit your job to more seriously studying / interview preparation, but that decision can wait.
